Independent Directors:

David R. Wilson, Chairman of the Board
Appointed chairman in 2002, David Wilson brings more than three decades of experience in the automotive and commercial vehicle industries to the Spartan board, which he joined in 1996. Wilson currently serves as an independent consultant to the automotive industry. He spent more than 10 years as vice president of Volvo GM Heavy Duty Truck Corporation after serving as general manager of field operations for Mercedes Benz of North America.
   
Richard R. Current, Director
Richard R. Current joined the SMI board in 2008. Since November 1999, Mr. Current has served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Neogen Corporation. In 2007, he was given the added title of Secretary. Prior to joining Neogen, Mr. Current served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Integral Vision, Inc. from 1994 to 1999 and as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Shane Group, Inc., a privately held company, from 1991 to 1994. Mr. Current was associated with the public accounting firm of Ernst & Young for 24 years and served as Managing Partner of the Lansing, Michigan office from 1986 to 1991.
   
Ron Harbour, Director

Ron Harbour joined the Spartan board in April 2009. Ron is consulting firm OliverWyman's partner responsible for global automotive manufacturing. Since 1983 Mr. Harbour has had broad experience in the assessment, development and implementation of quality, cost and productivity improvements at factories worldwide.

Mr. Harbour authors "The Harbour Report", the pre-eminent annual assessment of automotive manufacturing performance around the globe. Mr. Harbour is in high demand as a speaker and commentator on the automotive industry and is regularly quoted on TV, radio and the internet.

   
Kenneth Kaczmarek, Director
Ken Kaczmarek brings nearly four decades of automotive and heavy-truck industry experience to the Spartan board, which he joined in 2003. Prior to Spartan, Kaczmarek was an independent consultant to the automotive industry. Kaczmarek was the president and chief operations officer of Volvo Truck Finance and spent 13 years as the chief financial officer and executive vice president of finance of Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corporation.
   

Hugh W. Sloan, Director
Hugh W. Sloan joined the SMI board in 2007. He serves as the deputy chairman of Woodbridge Foam Corp., a $1 billion global supplier of polyurethane foam to the automotive industry. For more than 20 years, Sloan held various management positions with Woodbridge Foam, including president of the company's automotive group. Sloan is a member of the boards of directors of Manulife Financial Corporation and Wescast Industries Inc. and a former president, general manager and director of Budd Canada, Inc. He is also a former Staff Assistant to President Richard Nixon and a former Trustee of Princeton University.

   
George Tesseris, Director
Attorney George Tesseris has served on the Spartan Motors board of directors since 1984. George has been a practicing partner with the law firm of Tesseris P.C. since 1981. From 1972 to 1981, He was a partner in the law firm of Church, Wyble, Kritselis and Tesseris.

Officers:

John E. Sztykiel, Chief Executive Officer and Director
John Sztykiel has nearly two decades of management experience at Spartan Motors. He began his career at SMI as director of marketing for the Company's diversified products group before being promoted to executive vice president and then to vice president of sales. He served as the Company's president and chief operating officer for 10 years, leading Spartan through one of its most dynamic periods of growth.
   
Tom Gorman, Chief Operating Officer
Appointed Chief Operating Officer in July 2009, Tom Gorman brings over 25 years of experience to Spartan Motors, Inc. with a focus on international business, manufacturing operations, and business development. Prior to joining Spartan Motors, he was the President of Business Development & Engineering at Fluid Routing Solutions, a private equity owned company in Southfield, Michigan. In addition, Mr. Gorman held various positions at ZF Lemforder Corporation including President of North America and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Gorman began his career with Dana Corporation, a publically traded supplier of axles, driveshafts, and structural, sealing, and thermal-management products.
   
Joseph M. Nowicki, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer
Joseph Nowicki joined Spartan Motors, Inc. in July 2009 as Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, and Chief Compliance Officer. He has over 20 years of progressive financial experience covering a wide breadth of disciplines and has had broad involvement across the organization in manufacturing operations, physical distribution, information technology, purchasing, sales and distribution, and human resources. Prior to joining Spartan Motors, Mr. Nowicki spent 17 years with Herman Miller, Inc., a publicly traded office furniture manufacturer. He held several senior management positions with Herman Miller including Vice President of Investor Relations and Treasurer. In addition, he has held corporate finance positions with General Motors and IBM, and also worked in Consulting and Public Accounting.
   
William F. Foster, Vice President and Director
William Foster is one of the co-founders of Spartan Motors and has been a director since 1978. A firefighter with more than 30 years of experience, he also served as a designer draftsman for Diamond Reo Trucks, Inc.
   
Thomas T. Kivell, Vice President, Secretary, and General Counsel
Thomas T. Kivell, an attorney for more than 25 years, joined the Company as Vice President and General Counsel in 2008 and was appointed Secretary in 2009. Prior to joining Spartan, he served as General Counsel to GE Aviation's Digital Systems business, and prior to its acquisition by GE, was Associate General Counsel of Smiths Aerospace, a unit of UK-based Smiths Group plc. Mr. Kivell was in private law practice and also was Counsel and Contract Manager for a joint venture company between General Dynamics Land Systems and FMC Corporation.
